Charles Gullung, who grew up in New Orleans and Mandeville (on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain), has taken photographs for a variety of commercial and editorial clients including Nike, Outrigger, the United Nations Development Programme, Runner's World, Nickelodeon, Men's Journal, Random House, Sirius Radio, the MacArthur Foundation, NASA and Outside.
In April 2011, Charles spent a week with my husband in New Orleans, photographing the sites that are important to Nola Céspedes, the protagonist of Hell or High Water: her home in Mid-City, the nightclubs and restaurants where the action takes place, the tourist sites in the French Quarter where she tails a predator, the razed remains of the Desire Projects in the Upper Ninth where she grew up, and more.
Thank you, Charles, for supporting this project with your talent and generosity.
